The UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations came
into force on the 2 January 2007. Many businesses are and will be affected
by these regulations. Various estimates expect between 6,000 and 30,000
businesses, both large and small, to be affected in some form.
Brand owners, importers and distributors of Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (EEE) will be affected, attracting an obligation under the UK
WEEE Regulations.
The following interactive questionnaire is designed to help businesses

Do you sell/manufacture Electrical or Electronic Equipment (EEE) for household or businesses?
You will be involved in the sale or manufacture of WEEE if you produce, import, re-brand or sell to the end consumer.
With Businesses you will also be involved if you distribute products.
Do you sell Electrical or Electronic Equipment (EEE) to householders?
Does your company sell any electrical products directly to the ‘man on the street’ via a retail outlet,
a home delivery catalogue or e-mail? This includes free gifts given away as promotional items e.g a free electric toy with a children’s meal should be interpreted as your company selling EEE to the householder.
If you do not sell or provide to the end consumer but are part of the supply chain or a producer of
electronic goods then you should select no.
Do you sell Own Brand EEE Products?
Of the electrical products that you sell or give away are any of them marked with a brand which is
owned by your company? For example a supermarket own brand toaster, or a restaurant's name stamped
into a free gift with a children’s meal.
If this is the case then please select yes.
Do you import EEE Products?
If you are the first legal owner of EEE products within the UK then you are the importer.
For example in the diagram below Company 2 are the importer as they are the first legal owner
of the product in the UK, even though they never physically handle it.

The Business to Business obligation can be passed through the supply chain. If you are involved in the supply chain for EEE that ends up in a business please select yes. This includes free gifts.
