One-stop recycling info at Buchanan Galleries - 8 April 2008

recycle-more.co.uk, Valpak's recycling information website, will be visiting Buchanan Galleries this weekend to help the people of Glasgow recycle more old electrical and electronic goods. The Wincanton recycling team will join recycle-more outside John Lewis on the ground floor of the shopping centre, from 11-12 April 2008.

Every year in the UK we throw away over 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste. Over 75% of this ends up in landfill where lead and other toxins can contaminate soil and water. Waste electricals from toasters to TVs can be repaired or recycled, conserving natural resources and preventing environmental damage.

Sam Blades, recycle-more Web Manager said 'Waste electricals is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. Specialist recycling centres such as the ones in Glasgow are a fantastic resource for the community, allowing them to make a real contribution to protecting their surroundings for themselves and future generations'.

Glasgow has four sites for recycling waste electronics, Dawsholm, Polmadie, Easter Queenslie and Shieldhall, making it even easier for you to do your bit. Our team will be at Buchanan Galleries on Friday 11 or Saturday 12 with lots more information and give-aways. We will be pleased to answer any questions you have.
