who needs a UK Green Dot licence

If you are the brand owner of packaging and you produce packaging that displays the Green Dot®, which is then sold in the UK, you must pay a UK licence fee.

A parent company can apply for one Green Dot® licence on behalf of all their subsidiary companies / divisions.

When the licence is formally granted it will cover you for all product lines irrespective of quantity, volume and number of product ranges.

If you are exporting packaging to other European countries, you may be required to display this symbol on your packaging. This will depend on how the respective country has chosen to implement the 1994 European Union Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste 94/62/EC.

Please note that if you are a company registered in the UK and are a Valpak packaging member, you are entitled to use the symbol on your packaging in the UK, free of charge. However, please inform Valpak that you are using the symbol, and what packaging you display the symbol on.
